Inventory & Frame Management
GalleryPlanner treats every frame as a physical entity in your personal "library," ensuring you never lose track of dimensions.
- Adaptive Grid InventoryThe sidebar shifts between list and grid views to maximize screen space. Frames on the wall are clearly marked "Placed".
- 1:1 Manifest LogicEvery frame is accounted for individually. Removing a frame returns it to your "Unplaced" inventory.
- Batch ImportingBatch import by pasting text (e.g., "8×10, 11×14") or uploading text files. Use the example template for the expected format. Common Size Picker and manual sizing stay free.
- Starter LayoutsStart from curated wall arrangements in Frames → Add Frames → Starter Layouts, then customize every frame.
- Aesthetics & CustomizationLabel frames (e.g., "Wedding Photo"), adjust matting borders that grow outward to preserve inner dimensions, and use Round/Oval frame shapes.

- Touch-Optimized GesturesTwo fingers now stay focused on moving the wall more reliably while you pan, and only switch into pinch-to-zoom when you clearly mean to zoom. Tap a frame to select it, drag a frame directly with one finger to move it, and long-press a frame to open the context menu. Long-press items in the Library sheet to enter manage mode for bulk actions.
- Focused Feature SetIncludes essential planning tools like Wall Setup, Photo Management, and one-tap library placement. Auto-Layout and Smart Fill are available in both free and Pro plans. Replay onboarding anytime from Menu → Replay Walkthrough.
- Installable App AccessOn supported browsers, you can install GalleryPlanner for quicker launch and a standalone app feel. On iPhone and iPad, use Add to Home Screen from Safari to keep the app one tap away.

Backups include your wall layout, library photos, and analysis data. Save Project (.gwall) and Load Project (.gwall) are free. For important projects, store the file in Files, iCloud, Drive, or Dropbox. Add to Home Screen gives you a more durable standalone shell, but it is still not a replacement for .gwall backups, and very large saves can still fail on iPhone or iPad.

Is GalleryPlanner really free?
Yes. Core planning is free forever. Free includes one editable project with all creative tools, and Save Project (.gwall) plus Load Project (.gwall) are free on every tier. Loaded additional projects are view-only unless you have Pro. Pro unlocks multi-project editing and premium outputs like Hanging Guide PDF export, shopping list CSV export, and high-resolution cropped photo ZIP export.
Where are my photos stored?
Locally in your browser. We never upload your images to a server, so your photos stay private on your device. Browser storage is not the same as cloud backup, so use Save Project (.gwall) for important projects.
Can I use this on my phone or tablet?
Absolutely. GalleryPlanner is a responsive web app designed to work across desktops, tablets, and mobile phones for planning on the go. On iPhone and iPad, Add to Home Screen gives you a more durable standalone shell, but you should still use Save Project (.gwall) for important projects. Backups include your wall layout and project library, though very large saves can still fail on iPhone and iPad.
Can I install GalleryPlanner on my device?
Yes. On supported browsers, you can install GalleryPlanner as an app for quicker access. On iPhone and iPad, use Add to Home Screen. Installed access is convenient, but Save Project (.gwall) is still the safest way to protect important projects.
How do I print my layout?
Use Export (desktop) or the Share tab (mobile) to generate a print-ready Hanging Guide (PDF) with precise measurements. Hanging Guide requires Pro. High-resolution cropped photo ZIP export is Pro only.
Do I need to create an account?
You can start planning without an account. Create an account when you want to unlock and sync Pro access.
What if I switch computers or browsers?
Use Save Project (.gwall) to create a portable backup, then Load Project (.gwall) on any device or browser. Save Project (.gwall) and Load Project (.gwall) are free on every tier. Backups include your wall layout and project library. On mobile, tap the project name to open Project Switcher for Save Project / Load Project. Some mobile save flows may still look archive-like in Files, and very large saves can still fail on iPhone and iPad, so keep the .gwall filename and re-import through Load Project.
Does it support non-rectangular frames?
Yes. You can change frame shape to Round or Oval in Frame Properties.
Can I plan for multiple walls at once?
Currently, each project represents one wall. Free includes one editable project. You can still load additional projects as view-only, and Pro unlocks editing across multiple projects.
What exactly is 'Smart Fill'?
Smart Fill is our AI-powered engine that analyzes your photo library for composition, color, and resolution to place photos automatically. It is available on both free and Pro plans.
How do I measure for a staircase wall?
Go to Wall Settings and select a Staircase wall type, then set the Rise percentage to match your slope.
